Special Recognition
The Lauren Soto Dance Fund
It was established as a memorial to Lauren, whowas killed in a tragic auto accident on July 15th, 2006. The fund was
made
possible through the generosity of our community, people in the produce
industry across the U.S. and Canada, and Lauren's friends and family.
Lauren was passionate about many things and one of her very favorites
was dance. We think it got started with her days as a high school
cheerleader. Lauren was the flier on the 2000 NHS squad that won the
first
State Championship of their current ten in a row streak. So with that in
mind we decided to team up with Wendy and Desert Sky Gymnastics to
sponsor
tumbling classes for aspiring young cheerleaders who might otherwise not
get
the opportunity. We know that cheerleading and tumbling were important
in
developing Lauren's confidence, her energy, her fearlessness, and her
never ending love of life. Our hope is that Lauren's life be an inspiration to
other young girls growing up in Nogales.
